Combine waterfalls, a natural bog, a recent burned forest, and loads of wildlife and plants, and what do you get? . . . an enjoyable and educational trip for all ages. That pretty well sums up our Waterfalls and Wetlands trip.
This trip is a full day, beginning with a visit to a natural bog, where several unique plants live. Get your feet wet (or wear waterproof boots) as we look for native cranberries, the carnivorous sundew and pitcher plants, and other boggy features. You'll stop at other natural wetlands along the way to look for wildlife, like muskrats, beaver, Great Blue Herons, turtles, and others. Next, you'll visit the forest fire site of 2007; close to 3000 acres burned. Then, hike to a cool waterfall to see the natural beauty of a clean mountain stream. Be on the watch for our native brook trout or other residents.
