Elk Watch

We will begin the adventure in Wellsboro, PA. Your host will be a State Biologist and PA elk expert. On the way to the main destination, the heart of Pennsylvania's Elk Range, Benezette, we will stop at Sinnemahoning State Park for a snack and a short guided nature walk. Throughout our trip, we will stop to listen for the sound of the bull elk bugling, since this time of year will be during their prime breeding season.

Once to Benezette, we will stop at the most favorable elk viewing locations and see modern wildlife conservation in action while seeking a close look at these magnificent wild creatures, as well as other forest inhabitants. Our last stop will be Cherry Springs, the first Dark Sky Preserve Park in the mid-Atlantic region.

While dinner is cooking over a campfire, a local astronomer will lead a presentation in the delights of the night sky and some of the myths and legends behind the constellations. At the end the evening, travel back to Wellsboro and relax in a warm, comfortable bed near the PA Grand Canyon.
